INSTRUCTIONS FOR MPDTD

If you have never played Desktop Tower Defense (DTD) it would be a good idea to practice on the single player version first. This can be found here until it is moved over to the collective

Multiplayer Desktop Tower Defense (or MPDTD) pits yourself against up to 11 other players to see who can defeat wave after wave of creeps in the shortest time. The game is essentially a race to clear waves of creeps and complete all the levels. The player with the highest score at the end of game wins. Simple!

Rules:
* Each game starts with a 30 second setup period. Use it to set out your starting towers.
* Each wave of creeps comes in one at a time. The waves enter at the same time for all players.
* The player that first defeats the current wave of creeps gets a 'level winner' bonus of 20 points, and the next level starts immediately for ALL players.
* You will lose a life if a creep exits your map. You have 20 lives and when they are gone the game will end for you. Any other players in the game will continue to play on.
* When all players have lost all their lives or finish all the levels the game ends. The player with the highest score is announced the winner.
* When you sell a tower you get 100% of the cost back, including upgrades.

Game Modes:
When you create a game (or 'host') you can select what type of game mode to play. There are various game modes that are based on the single player version of DTD. There are also two additional options that can be selected for any mode:

* Super Powers
When this is selected players will earn 1 'player point' per level which can then be used to purchase special powers. These powers may be used against your opponents to disrupt them or to assist you.

* Arcade
When this option is selected the upgrade and sell timers are drastically reduced. This enables a fast moving game that takes less time to play.

* Hole punch
This options sets the center of the desk as the exit for the creeps. Creeps also now come from all 4 sides.

All 3 options can be selected at the same time.

Scoreboard & MiniMap:
To keep track of scores and your opponents' progress an advanced scoreboard as been added to the right of the playing area. The board is split into two parts, the top part of which is the MiniMap. To view the tower layout of another player click on their name in the scoreboard and their map will display in the top right. You will be able to see when they add or sell towers, but remember to pay attention to your own game as well! The area below the MiniMap contains a list of players and their status:

* The orange bar indicates how many creeps each player has defeated. When it gets to it's maximum width the player will have defeated all the creeps in the wave and win the level. The next wave of creeps will then start for all players!
* The small yellow bars indicate how many levels each player has won.
* The small yellow number also indicates how many levels each player has won.
* The white number indicates each player's current score.
* The red number indicates each player's current number of lives.
* The orange number indicates each player's current number of creeps on their screen.
* The 5 icons indicate if a player is under the effect of a super power. Each icon corresponds to a different power and will light up when the player is under its effect.

Super Powers

There are 5 super powers that players can use if they are playing with the Super Power option turn on. The powers are:

* Lights Out.
This makes the screen go dark and makes it difficult for the player affected to control their towers.

* Gold-lock.
This power locks a player's gold so that they cannot upgrade, buy or sell towers for a period of time.

* Silence.
This power stops all of an opponent's towers of a particular type from firing.

* Defend.
This power defends yourself from being attacked by other players for 40 seconds.

* Nuke
This power will kill ALL the creeps on your map. (Except Spawns which will just split)
