INSTRUCTIONS Desktop Armada Missions is a naval fleet strategy game where two sides are pitted against each other to see who can command the high seas, errr desktop. There are currently 9 missions to complete and the first 6 contain the tutorial. We suggest that you at least run through the training missions before trying the multiplayer version. When you load the game you will see a list of missions that can be played. All but one are initially locked and you will be able to unlock by completing the missions in turn. You previous high score for each mission is saved and you can view it when you mouse over the mission buttons. After you choose a mission you will see a brief mission description followed by some tips, then the game will start! The playing area is split into two sides, blue (you) and red (the enemy). The large blue building in the middle is your main base and it must be protected. Although it has high armor and a defensive gun it cannot withstand an assault by more than a few ships and if you lose your base the game will be over. The 6 buildings either side of your main base are the ports and are indestructable. Your ships can only be purchased and built at these ports - the main base is not able to build ships. You can select a port by clicking on it, or using the W/S or up/down arrow keys to cycle through them. When a ship is built it will follow a strict path across the desktop. This path is shown as a blue line leading from the currently selected port to the enemy's base. Once built, a ship cannot be given new orders and will follow the path given to it. There are several types of paths that can be selected and the paths vary from port to port as well. You can cycle through the paths by either clicking on the blue line, or by using the A/D left/right arrows. There are four ships that can be built and each has its own button at the bottom of the screen. The ships are: * Patrol Boat. A small fast boat that is useful for scouting. * Destroyer. A medium size ship that can take a lot of damage. * Missile Boat. A medium size ship that fires long range missiles. * Battleship. A large ship that can give and take a lot of damage. To build a ship at a port, first select the port and then click the ship's button. [b]You can also use the keys 1-4 to build a ship at the selected port. The ship button initially shows the price of the ship but if you mouse over the 'information' button you will see further stats for the ship. If you mouse over the 'research' button you will see the stats of a higher level version of the ship and the cost to pay for the research to be able to build them. Ships can be upgraded multiple times and each time a star is shown on the button to indicate the research level of the ship. You earn money, in most missions, at a steady rate that gradually gets larger as time passes. You can also increase the money earned by getting ships close to the enemy base. The closer your ships are to the enemy base the more money you will earn. Only the closest ship is used in this calculation so it could be a single Patrol Boat. Good luck and safe sailing Admiral!
